Alan L. Gaouette, 84, of Chicopee, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Care One at Redstone in East Longmeadow.  He was born on September 25, 1939 in Holyoke and was the son of the late Rudolph and Grace (Dumas) Gaouette.  Alan was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the Word of Grace Church in Westfield.  After serving in the Navy, Alan went to work for Savage Arms in Westfield and later retired from Ampad in Holyoke.  After his retirement, he drove a van for Sunshine Village for 14 years.  In his free time Alan loved to work in his garden and play the guitar.  Alan is predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. (Dort) Gaouette who died on May 4, 2020.  He is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl Ciaschini and her husband, John of West Springfield, Donna Roy and her husband, Guy of Chicopee and Barbara Grace Gaunya and her husband, Peter of Baltimore, MD and four grandchildren, Adam Roy, Joshua Roy, Emily Ciaschini and David Ciaschini. Although Alan will be deeply missed, his family is comforted in knowing that he is reunited with Barbara, the love of his life, and together they are dancing on streets of gold.  The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Care One at Redstone and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care of our Dad.  A service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam at 9 am.
