CHICOPEE Alfred J. Wojcik, 77, of Chicopee, died on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Heritage Hall West in Agawam, after a long struggle with his health. He was a retired machine operator at the former A. G. Spaulding Corp. and the Springfield Armory. Alfred was born on December 20, 1937 in Chicopee and was a life-long resident of Chicopee. He was the son of the late Kasmier and Catherine (Bozek) Wojcik. Alfred was a communicant of Basilica of St. Stanislaus and a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) at Pearl Harbor during the Korean War. Before his illness, he enjoyed taking care of the inside and outside of their home and always loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Stanek) Wojcik; a son, Jeffrey J. Wojcik and his wife, Nicole and a daughter, Carolyn Wojcik; two granddaughters, Meghan and Morgan; his loving sister, Phyllis Sliwa of Chicopee and her three daughters, Lynn Maziarz and her husband, Stanley, Jr; Katherine Slater and Joanne Maynard and her husband, Michael.

A funeral home service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee Center at 9 am with burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 10 am. Calling hours are on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Springfield Special Olympics, 380 Union St., Suite 3, West Springfield, MA 01089.
