Alice (Pula) Dougal, 102, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025. Born November 13, 1922 in Chicopee Falls, she spent her entire life in Chicopee until the age of 86 when she moved to Lancaster, PA to be near most of her family. Alice graduated from Chicopee High School and met her husband, Joe, at a Polish picnic and they became engaged shortly before he left for Air Force service in England during World War II. They were married in Chicopee when Joe was on leave on June 30, 1945 and lived in Chicopee for all of their married years.

Alice worked in part-time retail for much of her life, in addition to being mostly a stay-at-home mom. She was dedicated to her parents, Jacenty and Bertha Pula, and she and Joe lived close to them, sharing traditional holiday Polish customs with their growing family.

After Joe’s death in 1995, Alice lived in the home she and Joe had built, as well as visiting with her daughters and their families frequently. She loved to garden, especially both perennial and annual flower groupings. After moving to Lancaster, PA, Alice lived at Homestead Village, a continuing care community, where she spent her remaining years where she was able to live comfortably until her death.

She is predeceased by all of her siblings as well as her parents. Alice is survived by her daughters and their families, Christine Shrauf and husband Brian of South Hadley, MA, and Catherine Ferry and husband Raymond of Lancaster, PA. She especially took joy and had many happy years with her grandsons, RJ Ferry and Matthew Ferry as well as their families including Kate Ferry (wife of RJ), great-granddaughters Ella and Cora Ferry and Julia Ferry (wife of Matthew) and great-grandson Hugo.
