Alphonse E. Mruk, 92, of Chicopee, died on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke. He was a supervisor at NASA for thirty two years and retired from Balise after twenty four years. Al was born on May 30, 1923 in Chicopee and was the son of the late Martin and Nellie (Werc) Mruk.

Al was a 1940 graduate of Chicopee High School and a retired Chicopee Auxillary Police Officer. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Al was a member of the American Legion Post 275, K of C Council 69, VFW Post 625. Al is predeceased by his wife, Claire (Bouchard) Mruk, his brother, Ferdinand “Barney” Mruk and his two sisters, Bertha Raczka and Phyllis Bajorek. Al is survived by two nephews, Michael Bajorek and Kenneth Mruk, three nieces, Barbara Raczka, Claire Lebel and Kathy Kalbko, a grand nephew Jason Lebel and a grand niece, Erika Dupre and a great, grand nephew Torrey.

Al’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St. at 10:30 am. His burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, in Springfield. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
