Christie Celia Fournier, 32, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Agawam, Massachusetts. Born on October 12, 1992, in West Palm Beach, Florida, she lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to those she cared for. A graduate of Holyoke High School in 2010, Christie pursued her passion for nursing by earning her CNA certification from Excel Nursing in 2012. She continued her studies in LPN nursing at Goodwin University from 2014 to 2015. Her career was defined by compassion and commitment—she spent seven years caring for UMass professor Bernhard Leidner until his passing in 2022. Christie also worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Developmental Services through November 2024 and provided care to private clients throughout the years.

Above all else, Christie was a devoted mother who cherished every moment with her three children—Kayleigh Burgos, Kayson Fournier, and Rylie Fournier Cruz of Springfield, Massachusetts. She ensured their lives were filled with adventure and discovery, taking them on unforgettable trips to Disney World, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and countless beach destinations. She wanted them to experience the food, wildlife, and culture of every place they visited. Christie had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for travel. She explored South America, Europe, and many Caribbean islands for both work and personal enjoyment. Whether traveling abroad or enjoying time at home with family and friends, she embraced life fully. Her passion for professionally designed tattoos reflected her artistic side, while her love of food made her both a connoisseur and an excellent cook.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Shari L. Rosseel Smith; her uncle and confidant Greg A. Smith of Charlton, Massachusetts; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory. Christie was predeceased by her beloved grandfather Robert D. Smith and his wife Barbara.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, located at 69 East Street in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care, Baystate Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Agawam Rehab & Nursing for their compassionate care. Christie’s adventurous spirit and unwavering love for her children will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
