David C. Swist, 63, of Chicopee, died on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on September 6, 1954 in Chicopee and was the son of the late Walter and Gladys (Frankowitz) Swist. He has been living in Ludlow, however he lived in Chicopee most of his life. David was a machinist at Sterling Tool, and was a member of the Tiger’s Athletic Club. He was in the U.S. Navy, and served on the USS Saratoga. David loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, going to the camp and animals. David is survived by his son, Justin Swist of Chicopee, a grandson, Tyler Swist; his significant other, Jane Pietras of Chicopee; a brother, Donald Trudeau of Springfield, two sisters, Beverly LaFond of Chicopee and Terry Higgins also of Chicopee. Calling hours for David will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls from 4 to 7 pm. A funeral home service will take place at 6:30 pm.
