Edward F. Jaszek, Jr., 74, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center with his loving wife Gail (Murphy) Jaszek of forty seven years in June at his side. He was the son of the late Edward F. Jaszek, Sr. and Mary C. (Robak) Jaszek. Edward was born on Oct. 18, 1946 in Springfield. He was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. He graduated from Chicopee High School in 1964. Eddie attended Lowell Technical Institute, received an Associate in Science in Data Processing Technology from STCC in 1972. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from WNEC in 1977. Prior to his lifelong career in computer programming, Ed worked for Savage Arms as a machine operator, Uniroyal as a dye dresser and American Bosch as a machinist. He began his career in programming at Moore Drop Forge, then Casual Corner as a programmer analyst before going onto working as senior programmer analyst for over twenty years at Smith & Wesson. Followed by Big Y as a programmer analyst for five years and a year with Aerotech at Yankee Candle.

Ed enjoyed trips to Hampton Beach with his family, wonderful times visiting his sons Eddie and Michael in California, walking along Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier. Fun trips to the Casino with his sister Gloria and her husband John. He loved working around the yard and Fridays at Panera’s with his close friend Gary Bousquet discussing the latest technologies. Ed was an avid fan of the Patriots, Red Socks and Bruins. He was a wonderful father and husband, always being there for his family and friends. He had a love for life and never gave up hope.

Besides his parents, Edward is predeceased by his daughter, Jessica Jaszek in 1981. Edward is survived by his wife Gail (Murphy) Jaszek, his two sons, Edward F. Jaszek, III and Michael P. Jaszek both of Los Angeles, California. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Gloria Bishop and her husband, John and their family who were always right there for him at his side; sister-in-law, Noreen Meyrick and her husband, John and all their family for their loving support; a special thank you to cousin, Terry Pete and her family and to the many cousins, nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. The family would also like to thank Dr. Nason and the Baystate Thoracic Surgery Team for always being there for Ed. Also the loving care throughout his journey on South Wing 5 and 6 at BSMC.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1277 Main St., Springfield, MA 01103 or American Lung Association, 393 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01105 or the Esophageal Cancer Center at the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care, 3350 Main St., Springfield, MA 01107. Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
