Edward Louis Zagula, 85, of Chicopee, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Chicopee on December 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Ludwik and Frances Zagula. Ed worked as a machine tender at Premoid Corporation in West Springfield for 37 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Army and was decorated with the national Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) before serving in the Army Reserves. He continued his love of the Military by researching historical military memorabilia and model making of WWII airplanes and tanks.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Ludwika and his brother, Stanley. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hendry) Zagula of 59 years; daughter, Christine and her husband, Gary Larson of Glastonbury, CT; two loving grandchildren, Elizabeth and Eric Larson, as well as nieces and nephews who were dear to him and brought joy to his life. His family will receive friends and relatives at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee on Monday morning from 9 to 10:30 am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Church 319 Broadway in Chicopee Falls. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee.

His family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Sister Caritas Cancer Center and also the nurses, pulmonary therapists, chaplains nurse’s aides and all staff at Mercy Medical Center for their wonderful care and attention to Ed.
