Emelia E (Czerapowicz) Wajda, 95, of Chicopee, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 12, 2015. She was born on September 6, 1919 in Chicopee and was a life-long resident. Emelia was the daughter of the late Julian and Mary (Kos) Czerapowicz. She was the activity director at the Willimansett East Nursing Center until her retirement. “Emily” was very much devoted to her job and had a lot of love and compassion for the residents.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen “Steve” Wajda, of sixty seven years and a dear sister, Helene Czerapowicz. Every summer, Emily loved and enjoyed going to the Cape and spending time with her family and friends. Emily is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (Wajda) Masek and her husband, Neil of Chicopee; a brother, John Czerapowicz and his wife, Marlene of Chicopee; a sister, Joanne Moritko of Chicopee and two dear grandsons, Justin and Kevin and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St. in Chicopee at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; a charity very close to Emelia’s heart.
