It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Erma Griffeth, who peacefully departed this world at the age of 94. Erma was born and raised in Fort Fairfield, Maine, to Evans White and Myra Devoe. A longtime resident of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Erma’s life was a testament to love, strength, and devotion to those she held dear. Erma worked for many years at Spector Freight and Yellow Freight, but her greatest joy came from her family. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Leon Griffeth, with whom she shared 73 years of deep and enduring love. Together, they built a family that meant everything to her.   Erma is predeceased by her son, David Griffeth, who will forever be remembered and missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Leon; her brother, Gary White; her daughters, Cheryl Appleton and her husband Frank, Judy Krause and her husband Steve, and daughter-in-law Carol Griffeth. Erma is also survived by her grandchildren, David, Ben, Leonard, Jason, Matthew, Carly, and Jesse, and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Erma’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, and her memory will forever be cherished. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 26th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, 69 East Street, Chicopee, Massachusetts. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, January 27th, at the funeral home. Her burial will follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam with a service there at 2pm. In this difficult time, we find comfort in the cherished memories of Erma’s life and the love she so generously shared. May she rest in peace, forever surrounded by the love of her family and the memory of her dear son, David.
