Share your Memorial with Family & Friends
Evan Albert Stokowski, 37, of Cromwell, CT passed away on June 20, 2024 after a tragic event. Evan, a man of many nicknames (Stacks, Sticky, Ev, Stick Man to name a few), was born in Springfield, MA on May 19th, 1987 to Judy and Russ Stokowski, their first child. He grew up in a house full of love on Ohio Avenue in West Springfield, where he shared many memories and laughs with family and friends. Evan was the proud big brother to his sister Alli and brother Adam. He was educated in the West Springfield school system, a proud Tatham Tiger and West Side Terrier. Evan was an avid athlete, excelling especially in golf and baseball throughout his time at WSHS. He was a crucial member of the 2005 WSHS Baseball State Championship Team, one of his proudest accomplishments. He has remained in close contact with many of his teammates.
Evan went on to attend Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH, earning a degree in Sports Management and writing for the Penman Press, the school newspaper. On his 20th birthday in 2007, Evan was able to use his exceptional people skills to obtain press passes to SNHU’s Commencement and ultimately introduced his mother Judy to the future president of the United States, Barack Obama (one of her favorite memories.) While at SNHU, Evan developed many close friends and a strong support network. Anyone who met Evan, was a friend of Evan. It was also at SNHU where he first met his wife, Alexa Morrison, though they would not reconnect until years later, and married just weeks ago on May 25, 2024.
Evan’s endless drive to be an exemplary employee, combined with his passion for baseball, suited him well as he worked as the Clubhouse Manager for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Baseball Team (Double A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.) It was there that Evan demonstrated just how dedicated he was to being a man of hard work and integrity. He worked tirelessly to make sure every player was taken care of and treated like a member of his own family.
In the years since moving back to western Mass and eventually CT, Evan continued to maintain close friendship with a group of lifelong West Side friends as well as his immediate and extended family members. As an employee of C & S Wholesale, he proudly imparted his grocery shopping wisdom and insight with his loved ones. Evan was thoughtful and generous-at times to a fault. He loved making those around him smile and laugh; he was often first to share a wild, sometimes embellished story or memory. He loved music more than most (a passion surely inherited from his father) and was always sure to share his music (and movie) recommendations with those around him. He was a proud Cat Daddy to Kiedis, Frankie, and Lola.
Evan is survived by his wife, Alexa (Morrison) Stokowski, his parents Judy (Casey) and Russ Stokowski, his sister Alli Stokowski and brother-in-law Joseph Knight, his brother Adam Stokowski and sister-in-law Kadie Jo (Woltemath) Stokowski. He also leaves behind his niece Jamie Knight, to whom Evan was so very proud to be “Uncle Ev.” In addition, Evan is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who he loved so dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects and share their memories and favorite stories with the Stokowski family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday June 26th, 2024 at the Irish Cultural Center, located at 429 Morgan Rd in West Springfield, MA from 12-4pm. The family will be receiving condolences from 12-1:30pm. Casual dress and willingness to share your favorite memories is requested.
