Frank Mitchell Czekanski Jr., 71, passed away peacefully on June 13th at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Czekanski, Sr. and his mother, Julie (Sajdak) Czekanski. Frank is survived by his beloved sister, Christine, of Wilbraham, his loving brother, David, of Boston, his aunt Sophie Czekanski and numerous cousins. Frank was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He graduated with honors from Chicopee High School and attended the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and Western New England College. He was employed as a draftsman at the former F. W. Sickles, Monsanto, Moore Drop Forge, and Hampden Brass and Aluminum. An avid newshound, Frank read three newspapers daily and listened intently to various news reports. Always inquisitive, strong-willed, and direct, often sweet, charming, and quick to laugh, and occasionally quite stubborn, Frank will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Frank’s funeral will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. Chicopee Falls at 9:30 am with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus on 566 Front St. Chicopee at 10:30 am. His burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western MA.
