Frank T. Knapp, 94, of Chicopee passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at home. He was a retired manufacturing engineer at the former U. S. Envelope now Westvaco. Frank was born on April 16, 1927 in Chicopee and was the son of the late Stanley and Anna (Pietras) Knapp. He was a World War II United States Army veteran. Frank was a woodworker all of his life. Although through the years, he made many beautiful pieces of furniture, he was most passionate about clock making. He spent most of his retirement making clocks for Friendly Ice Cream. All 850 of their restaurants had his clock on their wall. He also made many over the years for people that ordered them for special occasions. Each was made with a personally etched label. To all that knew him, he was known to be always kind, helpful and generous. Family was everything to Frank. Frank is survived by his wife of almost seventy years, Lorrraine (Jurasz) Knapp; his children, Laura Knapp of Chicopee, Thomas Knapp of CT and Steve Knapp and his wife, Jennifer also of CT; two grandchildren, Christopher Knapp and his wife, Francis and Emma Knapp. Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by his son, Peter Knapp, brothers and sisters, Mabel Liszka, Anthony Knapp, Stella Gumula; Jane Donnelly and Edward Knapp. The family would like to thank Landmark Health for all of his home health care over the past few years. Also Visiting Angels, namely Elizabeth, Annie and Kashana for all of the care they gave Frank, enabling him to remain at home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 10 to 11 am with a service at 11 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
