Gary A. Plante, age 61, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. Gary was a decorated Air Force Veteran, retired after 20 years of service. He was the son of the late Rose and Paul Plante. Gary is survived by his beloved wife Mimi (Marian Riordan) Plante; his step-children Christina and Kevin. He is also survived by his 3 sisters, Betty, Gloria and Winnie. He was predeceased by his brother Paul “Butch” Plante. He will also be missed by his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and the close-knit group of friends that Gary considered family. Gary had a passion for the Patriots and Rock & Roll. He had a true love for connecting with children, the elderly and those in need. His charisma and sense of humor brought joy, laughter and compassion to all he met. Gary loved spending time with his family, friends and his beloved pets, Bonkers, Hobo and Misty. Calling Hours will be at Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, 69 East St., Chicopee, on Sunday, June 11 from 4-7 pm. Gary’s funeral will be held on Monday 8:30 am at the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church 323 Dickinson St., Springfield MA at 9:30 am, followed by burial with Military Honors at the Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam MA at 11am. Donations can be made in Gary’s memory to the Holyoke Soldier’s Home, Holyoke MA.
