CHICOPEE Gerald “Jerry” Forcier, 94, of Ludlow and Chicopee passed away on May 18, 2026 from esophageal cancer. Born January 30, 1932, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an equipment operator, including time at Westover Air Force Base. A disabled American Veteran and life member of the Combat Infantry Battalion, Jerry was the sole survivor of the Baker Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment, at the historic Battle of Chipyong-ni. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his bravery and service.
Jerry was a communicant of the Basilia of St. Stanislaus and an active member of Moose Family Center 1849, American Legion Post 420, and VFW Post 625. He enjoyed horse racing, the Kentucky Derby, and visiting Foxwoods.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ova (LeBeau) Forcier; brother Joseph; daughter Linda Neveu; former wife, Mary June Forcier.
He is survived by his granddaughter Deanna Grimshaw and her husband Kris Grimshaw; great-grandchildren Travis, Kaleb, and Emilia; his son-in-law, Daniel Neveu. His cherished partner Judie Walas and her children Karin Ziemba and her husband Edward Ziemba and Kevin Liquornik.
Calling hours for Jerry will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a service at the funeral home at 12:30. His burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. in Agawam at 2 pm.
