Helen D. (Ciesones) Kusek, 99, of Chicopee, died on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on March 14, 1921 in Thompsonville, CT and lived in Chicopee most of her life. Helen was the daughter of the late Andrew and Nora (Swol) Ciesones. She was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus. Her husband Walter was the co-owner of the Cavalier Restaurant and she could be found there every Friday, greeting customers and making them feel at home. She devoted her entire life to being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and caring for her family and spending time with them is what made her the happiest. Helen is predeceased by her husband, Walter C. Kusek, who died in 2005; her daughter, Geri Archambault, who died in 2012, a brother, Andrew Ciesones, and sisters, Stella Gray and Sylvia DePietri. She is survived by a son, Walter Kusek, Jr. of Chicopee, her sister, Nellie Kusek of Chicopee, three granddaughters, Deb Novotney and her husband Pete of Longmeadow, Cindy Carabetta and her husband Craig of East Longmeadow and Jennifer Kuhn and her husband A.J. of Westfield and her 7 beloved great grandchildren, Jack, Grace, Lily, Ava, Cate, Griffin and Brexley. The family would like to thank the staff at Bear Mountain nursing home in West Springfield and the nurses and doctors at Baystate Medial Center in Springfield for the care and respect they showed her in her final days. Calling hour will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St in Chicopee Falls from 8:30 to 9:30 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing are required, please keep your visit brief.
