Irene E. (Puc) Kudla, 88, of Chicopee, died peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at home with her daughters by her side. Irene was born on April 1, 1929 in Hartford, CT and has been a resident of Chicopee. She was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Rogus) Puc. She worked as a clerk for almost thirty years in the City of Chicopee Treasurer’s office and prior to that, she worked at New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. Irene was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Chicopee Falls Women’s Club. Irene cherished her grandkids and was always proud of their accomplishments. She was always smiling and had a deep devotion to her family and God. Irene loved to read, enjoyed line dancing and spending time at the Chicopee Senior Center. Besides her parents, Irene is predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Kudla, who died on April 8, 2013 and her sister, Frances Wilkins. She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Dunkerley (Paul) of Longmeadow and Karen Kudla-Gardner and (Dwayne) of Chicopee and four grandchildren Nicholas Dunkerley, Lauren Dunkerley, Sarah Gardner and Joseph Gardner and several nieces and nephews. Irene’s funeral will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee Center at 10:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 11:30 am. Her burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm.
