Jean (Rusin) Topor died on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 surrounded by her family. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Martin J. Topor in 1963, her parents, Kasper and Mary Rusin and her brothers, Joseph, John, and Stanley. She is survived by her sisters, Frances Morawiec and Veronica Szczur. Jean loved her faith, family and Polish holiday traditions. Jean leaves her children, Martin (Cheryl) Topor of West Springfield MA, Mary Jean (Paul) Thornton of Chicopee, MA and Stephen (Beth) Topor of Danville CA. She leaves her grandchildren, Kate Labor (Corey), Martin J. Topor (Lisa), Christopher Topor (Ally), Andrew Thornton (Jessica), Leslie Topor, Dr. Alex Topor (Megan) and Jeffrey Topor. She was also blessed to have six great grandchildren, Owen, Anthony, Noah, MJ, Keegan and Dominic. She leaves many nephews and nieces including, Charlie Szczur and Edward Szczur and their families. Jean always made holidays and family milestones extraordinary with her planning, cooking and baking, always with the assistance of her sisters, Frances and Veronica, and her brother, Stanley. Decades later, people still remember her backyard parties on St. James Avenue. She worked at Baystate Medical Center and Elms College. Elms was very special to her. She worked in the Maguire Center, as a receptionist, until she was 86. She loved her job, water aerobics’ friends, attending athletic events and interacting with the students and staff. Keystone Commons was Jean’s home for the last seven years; her favorite activity was bingo. (especially when she won the coverall which yielded $1.60) Jean was a communicant at St. Stanislaus Church and a member of the Rosary Society. Jean’s family would like to thank the entire staff at both Keystone and Beacon Hospice Care for their compassionate care. A calling hour will be held on Monday October 19, 2020 from 9 to 10 am at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing are required.
