Joan H (Lanctoe) Markiewicz of Maineville, OH passed away January 1, 2023.  Joan was born on May 31, 1942 in Chicopee, MA and was a long-time resident of Holden, MA.  She was the daughter of the late Angela Matikowski and Clement Lanctoe.  Joan worked for many years as a dental assistant as well as a homemaker with her family.  She enjoyed music, pastel artwork and vacations to the beach, but most of all she loved time with her family. She is survived by her husband Albert Markiewicz along with their two sons Jonathan, his wife Jeanine and granddaughter Gabriella of Saugus, MA and Joseph, his wife Kristina and grandchildren Aaron and Lauren of Cincinnati, OH.  She also leaves sister Susan Mozgala and husband Robert, brother Thaddeus Owczarski and wife Gay, sister Kathleen Owczarski and sister Marsha Henry and husband Paul.  She was predeceased by brother James. Calling hours are on Monday, January 9 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls.  Joan’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 9 am at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St. in Chicopee at 10 am. Burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Montgomery St. in Chicopee.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joan’s name to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
