Kent C. “Hutch” Hutchinson, 88, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2021 at Western Mass Hospital in Westfield. He leaves his loving wife, Jeanne (Blanchard) Hutchinson. Born in Springfield on February 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Albert and Frances (Smith) Hutchinson. Hutch graduated from UMass with his BA and his MBA from Western New England College. Where he became an adjunct professor in the masters program for over thirty years. He served in the United States Army 101st Air Borne Division under General Westmoreland. Hutch worked as a corporate controller and retired in 2003 taking a well planned six month cross country trip with his wife. He became a self-employed accountant until 2019. Hutch enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, scuba diving, camping and traveling. Spending time with his family was always important to him. He leaves his children, Julie Moss and her husband, Greg of Belchertown, Michelle Opon and her husband, Mark Ogoley of Hampden, Elizabeth Pridgen and her husband, Karl of Florida, Clifford Hutchinson and his wife, Linda of Ware, Kent Hutchinson, Jr. of Palmer, Steven Hutchinson and his wife, Sue of North Carolina and Valerie Hutchinson of Ludlow and several grandchildren especially, Joseph, Chloe and Lexee. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Western Mass Hospital, who so lovingly cared for him. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
