Lillian R. (Cuddy) Darcy, 96, a life-long resident of Chicopee, passed away on March 6th at Vero in South Hadley. Lillian, or “Dolly” as she was affectionately known, was born in Chicopee to Harry and Lillian Cuddy on April 19, 1924. Upon graduating from Chicopee High School in 1941, she went to work as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Roland L. Darcy, whom she met and married in 1946 when he returned from the war. After the phone company, she worked for 12 years at the Broadway Grill, which she co-owned with her husband. She also worked with her Husband at his company, Darcy Real Estate, for many years. She enjoyed working with people, and held various positions at different companies over the ensuing years. She worked the switch board at Forbes and Wallace, James River Graphics and for her Brother-in-law Harold Darcy at The Darcy Refrigeration Company. For 17 years she managed the books and payroll at her daughter’s dance studio, Shelley’s Dance Unlimited, where she loved watching all the dance classes. She was also active in politics and was a warden at the polls for many years. She was a member of the Laurier Club, Chicopee Women’s Club and the Senior travel Club. She liked dance, movies, shopping, her cats, bingo and occasional trips to Foxwoods. But most of all she loved her family and especially loved spending the holidays with them. She leaves her daughter Lynn Darcy, her daughter Shelley Trehey and her husband Jerrold Trehey; Her Grandson James Trehey and his wife Janet; her Great-Granddaughter Autumn Rose Trehey, Great-Grandson Joseph Trehey, and is sadly pre-deceased by her Great-Grandson James Trehey Jr. “JJ”. She leaves many special friends and close relatives. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. Family and friends may attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St. in Chicopee on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 11 am. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday from 4 to 6 pm at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St., in Chicopee Falls. Due to Covid-19 for those attending, visitation will be a walk-through, please remember social distancing and to wear a mask.
