Mabel (Borowiec) Fredette, 95, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at the Agawam North Rehab and Nursing Home. Born in West Springfield, on October 22^nd, 1928, to the late John and Anna (Turek) Borowiec. She retired from Westvaco, Springfield, the former U.S. Envelope as a machine operator in 1995 after 35 years of service. She is survived by her daughter Diane Fredette, two sons Dan and his wife Cheryl, Darryl and his significant other Diane, and her sister-in-law Jane Borowiec all of Chicopee. Also, she leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mabel was predeceased by six sisters Bertha Szlachetka, Wanda Kagan, Stella Telesmanick, Helen Rostowski, Ann Stadnicki, and Frances Borowiec, and two brothers Bernard and Michael Borowiec. She loved doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, going for rides, and being with her dog Duke, her 16-year-old chihuahua who died on April 2nd, 2024. We especially want to thank her nephew Wesley Szlachetka, and granddaughter Sheri for their many visits to the nursing home that our mother truly enjoyed. We would also like to thank Nichole and the staff at the Agawam North Rehab and Nursing Home for their compassion and excellent care.  A graveside service will be held at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11:00. In place of flowers, a donation may be made to Mutt Rescues, Inc. of Chicopee.  Her care has been entrusted to the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home.
