Mary A. (Minko) LaFountain, 70, of Springfield, died on March 1, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on May 26, 1950 in Springfield and was the daughter of the late Antoni and Zofia (Wytrwal) Minko. Mary was a graduate of Chicopee High School. She worked at Center Cleaners and most recently retired as customer service clerk at Big Y on St. James Ave. in East Springfield after thirty eight years of dedicated service. Mary enjoyed gatherings and spending time with her family. Along with her husband, they opened their home and backyard to many gatherings, celebrating her granddaughters birthdays and milestones as well as other family celebrations. Mary enjoyed family vacations to Hampton Beach, Cape Cod and Newport. She is survived by her husband of fifty two years, George, son, David and his wife, Lori of Indian Orchard, brother, John Minko and his wife, Ruth of Chicopee, sisters, Christina Fredette and her husband, Thomas of Brimfield and Caroline Moore and her husband, Stephen of Springfield, granddaughters, Danielle, Emily and Grace LaFountain, special family, Ken and Mary Fagnant, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St. in Chicopee at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, from 4 to 7 pm at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. Social distancing and the wearing of masks are required.
