Mary M. (Giacomelli) Lepkowski, 90, of Chicopee, died peacefully at home on Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was born March 10, 1928 in Holyoke and was the daughter of the late Martino and Nancy (Arrighi) Giacomelli. As a young woman she worked at Mazzolini’s Restaurant in South Holyoke and then worked in the customer service department at Zayre and Ames in Chicopee for twenty-six years. Mary was very involved at her church. Not only was she a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee, but she was also a eucharistic minister, did wake services and worked in the rectory. For twenty-five years, she has volunteered at the Willimansett Nursing Centers, saying the rosary and singing with the residents. She was a member of the Golden Agers at the Knights of Columbus, liked playing bingo at the senior center and playing cards with her family and friends. Mary loved watching the Boston Red Sox and old movies. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Alfred S. Lepkowski and her two brothers, Roger and Albert Giacomelli. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary C. Kukla and her husband, Marc of Chicopee and Denise A. Krupa and her husband, Edward of East Nassau, NY; five grandchildren, Amy Juliano and her husband, Daniel, Nancy Grzelak and her husband, Thomas, Anthony Kukla and his wife, Hilary, Edward Krupa and Andrew Krupa and his wife, Paige; seven great-grandchildren, David, Sarah and Claire Juliano, Peter, Joel and Wilson Grzelak and Cillian Krupa; sister-in-law Louise Czarnecki and nephew Ted Czarnecki and his wife Estelle. Mary’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee at 10 am. Her burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling Hours for Mary will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm.
