Mary T. (Krupa) Muniak Burton, 99, of Springfield, died on Monday, June 26, 2017 at home with her family by her side. She was born on August 15, 1917 in Chicopee and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Cichonski) Krupa. Mary was the co-owner of Muniak Jewelry in Springfield, but taking care of her home was her pride and joy. Mary was a very talented, creative seamstress and fiber artist especially in knitting. She also enjoyed cooking. Mary was very proud of being named “Miss Chicopee” as a young girl. She was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus and a former member of their Rosary Society. Mary is survived by her three children, Daniel A. Muniak and his wife, Paula, of Jordan, MT, Mark A. Muniak and his wife, Belinda of Southwick, and Mary A. Muniak of Springfield; two brothers, Stanley Krupa and Edward Krupa; a sister, Helen Hartnett, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her first husband, Anthony S. Muniak and second husband, Stanley T. Burton and eight siblings: Joseph Krupa, Veronica Francesconi, Stephen Krupa, Charlotte Kraus, Serafin Krupa, Alice Laliberte, Eugene Krupa and Ted Krupa. Mary’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 9 am at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
