Norbert A. Carter, 94, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on March 10, 1930 in Springfield and was the son of the late Arthur and Rose (Mathieu) Carter. Norbert was a firefighter for the City of Springfield and also worked as bricklayer. Norbert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He enjoyed being at Cape Cod, traveling, going to casinos and out to eat with his family.  He is predeceased by his wife, Lois (Tatro) Carter, who died on October 4, 2023. Norbert is survived by his children, Richard M. Carter and his wife, Sherry of Agawam, Susan M. Egan and her husband, Jack of Ludlow and Michael L. Carter and his wife, Donna of Springfield; four grandchildren, Marianne T. D’Antonio and her husband, Brandon of Easthampton,  Laura J. Van Deusen and her husband, Jason of West Springfield, Sean R. Egan of Ludlow and Kayla M. Egan, also of Ludlow and 4 great grandchildren, Sofia D’Antonio, Emma D’Antonio, George Van Deusen and Thaddeus Van Deusen. Norbert’s burial will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam at 2 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin’s Friends Children’s Cancer Fund, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01104, Shriners Children’s New England, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or Connecticut Children’s Foundation, 282 Washington St. Hartford, CT 06106.
