Peter F. Matuszczak, 79, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022. Peter was born on November 8, 1942 to the late Peter and Mary (Bajor) Matuszczak. Peter graduated from Chicopee High School and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from American International College. He was a history and psychology teacher at Chicopee High School for 37 years where he challenged thousands of students to think and question events in the world around them. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved to talk politics. He was predeceased by the love of his life Mary (Gaffney) Matuszczak and a brother, Dennis S. Matuszczak. He is survived by his son, Kevin Matuszczak and his wife, Chris Tolpa-Matuszczak of Westfield; his son, Michael Matuszczak and his wife, Denise Matuszczak of Wilbraham. Dziadzi’s memory will be cherished by his four grandchildren, Catherine (Matuszczak) Martins, Michael Matuszczak, and Kealyn and Caden Matuszczak. He will always be remembered for the care he provided them, the athletic events he attended, and every Christmas that he always made extra special. He will also be missed by his two great grandsons, Joey and Henry Martins. He also leaves his special friend, Teresa Tercyk. The family would like to thank his neighbors, Abel and Colleen Gagnon and children, who treated Pete like family. Visitation will be on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 EAST St. from 9 to 10 am followed by a funeral home service at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
