Richard “Dick” G. Daviau, 91, of Chicopee, died on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Dick was born on April 10, 1929 in Chicopee and was the son of the Armand and Lena (LaBreque) Daviau. He was a communicant of Holy Name Church at Assumption in Chicopee and life long member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849. Dick was a steamfitter at Uniroyal and later became an administrator for the Clerk of Courts in Springfield.

Dick’s passion was politics which came through in many positions he held in the city of Chicopee. He was a member of the school committee for 2 years and served as Alderman for 6 years. He also served on many committees through out the years.

Dick’s greatest passion was his family. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn (Salamon) Daviau and his brother, Howard Daviau. He leaves a daughter, Deborah Lunney and her husband William of South Hadley and a son, Edmund Daviau and his wife, Donna of Wilbraham. Dick also leaves 3 grandchildren, Ryan Halley and his wife, Meghan of Orlando, FL, Joanne Scheinost and her husband, Travis of Granby and Duncan Daviau, of Northampton and several nieces and a nephew. But the apple of his eyes are his 2 great grandchildren, Miles Halley and Francesca Scheinost.

The family would like to thank some special people in their dad’s life. Cousin, Theo Roy for many visits and phone conversations, Thom Kerner for all his help and Maryann and Duane Paraday for many hot meals.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Holy Name of Jesus Church at Assumption at 11 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
