CHICOPEE    Robert J. “Hoppy” Hopkins, 72 of Chicopee, Mass passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1953 in Springfield, Mass and was the son of the late Matthew and Eileen (Brown) Hopkins. Bob was a professor at Springfield College, teaching the Paramedic program, as well as many local ambulance services and Federal Response for disasters. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his three brothers and nephew. He is survived by his sister, Marion Holden; nephew, Michael Hanna of Hampden; great nephew, Matthew Hanna of Clearwater, FL, and lifetime friend, Brian Mullen of Chicopee. Calling hours are Thursday, January 22, at Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee from 4 to 7. His funeral will be held on Friday, January 23, 10 am at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., at 11 am with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.
