CHICOPEE Robert J. Lukasik, Sr., 80, of Chicopee, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on April 11, 1945 in Springfield and was the son of the late Frank and Nellie S. (Dunaj) Lukasik.
Bob attended St. Stanislaus School and graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1964. He played baseball, football and was captain of the hockey team. Bob joined the Marine Corp. in 1965 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, Company C 2nd Recon Bn, 2nd Mar Division, FMF discharge from Chelsea Naval Hospital in 1967. While on duty with Marine Corp Reserve. Bob went three years for sheet metal layout at Springfield Trade School and two years for business management at Springfield Technical College. He was a shop manager at O.R. Cote and a welder at Chicopee Welding & Tool. Bob was a Past Commander, Sr. Vice Commander and Finance Officer of American Legion Post 452, a member of AmVets Post 12; Past President of the Patriotic Committee, Memorial Day Parade Marshall and Athletic Director for Legion Baseball.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Carney) Lukasik; his son, Daniel Lukasik and his brother Thomas Lukasik. He is survived by his son, Robert J. Lukasik Jr. of Chicopee; sister, Frances Salamon of Chicopee; sister-in-law, Josephine Lukasik of Chicopee, and several nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
