Robert M. Joyal, 94, of Chicopee, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Vantage Health Care at Hampden. He was born on December 20, 1931 in Belchertown and was the son of the late Romeo J. Joyal and Blanche M. (Giles) Joyal. Bob was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus and a member of the Holy Name Society. He worked at Lestoil in Holyoke and was a custodian at St. Stanislaus School. Bob enjoyed gardening, nature, woodworking and taking Sunday rides. He loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy S. (Spiewak) Joyal, two daughters: Kathleen Garvey and husband, James of Springfield and Christine O’Connor of Chicopee; siblings: Louise Barrett of Belchertown, Eleanor Plant of Belchertown, Lorena Belheumer of Huntington and Samuel Joyal of Belchertown, four grandchildren, Krystal Prendergast, James Garvey, Jr., Meghan Tolley and Ryan O’Connor and two great grandchildren, Caden and Madyson Prendergast. Besides his parents, Bob is predeceased by his brothers, James Joyal, Bernard Joyal and Walter Joyal and sisters, Marjorie Joyal and Anne West. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee from 9:30 to 10:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 11 am. Burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Stanislaus School, 534 Front St. Chicopee, MA 01013.
