Robert W. Cowdrey, Sr. 81, of Springfield, died on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on November 17, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of the late Clarence and Helen (Mathisson) Cowdrey.  Robert owned an International Radio Network.  He loved his wife and family, but second to them, he loved being on his ham radio. Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Barbara J. (Mattoon) Cowdrey; a son, Robert W. Cowdrey, Jr. and his fiancé, Jennifer Goodine of Fort Fairfield, ME; his daughter, Kellie Thornton and her fiancé, David Heywood of Chicopee and  son, Joshua J. Cowdrey of Springfield; son-in-law, Jason Thornton of Springfield; his brother, Ronald Cowdrey of MA; five grandchildren, Jessica Thornton, Adrian Thornton and husband, Charles Lyman, Jason Thornton, Jr., Shaughnessy Thornton and Joshua Thornton and fiancé, Bethzaida Rivera and five great grandchildren, Cornell, Janaiya, Cairo, J’Amiracle and Janaiyla.  Robert is predeceased by a brother, Richard Cowdrey and sisters, Ann Quinneville and Janet Gottsman. Calling hours are on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee from 10 to 12 am.  A service at the funeral home will be held at 12 Noon.  Burial will be at a later date.
