Rose Mary Salamon, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Chicopee, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Alliance Health at Marina Bay in Quincy.  She was born on July 26, 1936 in Chicopee and was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Lapa) Sypek.

An avid collector of Annalee Dolls, Rose Mary enjoyed decorating her home for holidays and sharing her love of plastic canvas with friends and family.  She took pride in her many decades of nurturing young children as a preschool teacher, and later director, at the Children’s Creative Corner in Springfield.

Rose Mary is predeceased by her husband, Walter F. Salamon, Jr. and two sons, Walter Salamon and Jeffery Salamon.  She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Salamon and Sharon Tierney and her husband, Neil; her sister, Jean Ziemba; five grandchildren, Katrina, Tricia, Katie, Daniel, Heather and their spouses; and nine great grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at a later date.  Donations in Rose Mary’s memory can be made to the Family Nurturing Center of Massachusetts, 200 Bowdoin St., Dorchester, MA 02122.  Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
