Thaddeus A. “Ted” Nowak, 96, of Chicopee, died on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was a retired assembler and inspector at the former Package Machinery in East Longmeadow. Ted was born on June 2, 1921 in Wilbraham and lived in Chicopee after he was married. He was the son of the late John P. and Angela (Gil) Nowak. Ted was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and a World War II veteran, serving in the US Coast Guard. He was a Chicopee Auxillary Police Officer and enjoyed Polish music, golfing and playing cards. Ted was a family man. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris M. (Kusek) Nowak, a son, Thaddeus A. Nowak, Jr. and his wife, Dianna of Westbrook, CT; two daughters, Nancy Mullaly and her husband, Robert of Naples, FL and Karen Powers and her husband, David of Huntington; five grandchildren, Sarah, William, Chelsea, Colin and Jenna; three great grandchildren Clara, Ryan and Iris and many nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by his nine siblings. Ted’s funeral will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee Center at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10 am. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
