Thomas M. Sarlan, 56, of Chicopee, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born on August 24, 1968 in Springfield. He was a 1987 graduate of Putnam High School and an employee at Mercy Medical Center for 36 years. Tom was an avid Celtics, Cowboys, and NASCAR fan and a passionate music lover. Tom also coached youth basketball throughout the city of Chicopee and made many lasting memories with his teams. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tracey M. (Dziok) Sarlan, two sons, Adam and Luke Sarlan: his father, Thomas F. Sarlan, his sister, Karen Nenorta and her husband, Peter; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Trudy Dziok; brothers-in-law, Michael and Raymond Dziok and their wives Eileen and Kathleen, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, 61 Grape St. in Chicopee on Saturday, October 5 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St. in Chicopee at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer House of Hope, 1999 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA 01089.
