Veronica M. Sypek, 96, of Chicopee, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. She was a clerk at the Wall St. Journal for twenty three years before retiring. Veronica was born on October 3, 1924 in Chicopee. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Borek) Piela. Veronica was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Rosary Society and Pierogi maker. Veronica was also a member of the Jolly Diners. She was educated in Chicopee schools and was a graduate of Chicopee High School. Besides her parents, Veronica is predeceased by her husband, Mieczyslaw “Mitzie” S. Sypek, who died in 1992, a brother and two sisters. Veronica is survived by her three children, Patricia Santos and her husband, Armando of Ludlow, Thomas Sypek and his wife, Jeanette of Westhampton and Maryann Burian and her husband, David of Belchertown; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Greene, Kristen Karowski and her husband, Jacob, Tyler Sypek and his wife, Ashlee, Kayla Sypek, Sarah Sypek, Melanie Burian and Alissa Burian and five great grandchildren. Veronica’s family would like to thank all her caregivers at Keystone Commons, Holyoke Hospice and Life Care Center of Wilbraham for their compassionate care. There are no calling hours. Family and friends may attend the Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi, c/o Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 40 Cyman Dr. Chicopee, MA 01013. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing are required.
