CHICOPEE — Walter B. Rohan, 77, of Chicopee, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

He was born on September 12, 1948, in Chicopee and was the son of Adella J. (Gruszkos) Rohan Strycharz and Edward Strycharz. Walter was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was a maintenance engineer for the U.S. Postal Service before his well-deserved retirement and enjoyed spending time in Reno, Nevada.

Walter was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Knights of Columbus Council 69, American Legion Post 420, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Tigers Athletic Club.

He is survived by his son, Eric Rohan and his fiancée, Julie, of Easthampton; his daughter, Marcie Rohan of Enfield; his longtime companion, Simone; his brother, Edward Strycharz and his wife, Linda, of Florida; his three grandchildren, Lennox, Liam, and Stella; his very close cousin, Billy Gruszkos; along with many friends of and extended family. He was predeceased by his sister, Christine Rivela.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, 69 East Street, Chicopee, from 3-6pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral home service on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 12 noon. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
