George W. Sidor, Sr., 74, of Chicopee, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at home. He was the founder and owner of George’s Specialty of Indian Orchard. George was born on February 12, 1948 in Altenstadt, Germany to the late Stanislaus and Natalia (Grela) Sidor. He was a graduate of Chicopee High School, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion and a longtime member of the Quabbin Fisherman’s Association. George had a passion for fishing. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics fishing derby, volunteering his time and boat to bring Special Olympians on to Quabbin for the annual fishing derby. He is survived by a son, George Sidor Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Chicopee; his daughter, Linda Norton and her husband, Paul of Indian Orchard; five grandchildren, George W. Sidor III, Calleigh Wile, Morgan Norton, Anna Norton and Tyler Cote and his life-time companion, Diane Tanaki. Friends and relatives are invited to a viewing on November 5, 2022 from 10 to 12 am at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St.in Chicopee Falls. The burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
