Barbara J. (Metz) Comiskey, 74, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2024 at her home with her family by her side. Barbara was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed. She was born on August 13, 1949 in Springfield and was
the daughter of Lloyd Metz and Caroline (Cassidy) Lutz. Barbara was a graduate of Chicopee High School. She worked for the Chicopee School Department and was the head cook for the school lunch department at Szetela School. Barbara loved being with her family, especially all her
grandchildren. She also enjoyed her time at the ocean, a good mystery show and playing her games. Barbara was loved by many and brought joy to all those around her. She was always active in her local church; working coffee hours, volunteering in children’s ministries and starting
a food bank. For more than 30 years, she spent her Saturdays feeding and helping the homeless of Springfield. She is also a member of The Women of the Moose in Chicopee MA. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her two sons, Michael Comiskey and Shawn Comiskey and her
brother Charles Lutz. Barbara is survived by her best friend and husband of fifty-three years, Patrick J. Comiskey, Sr.; two sons, Patrick Comiskey, Jr. of Springfield and Anthony Comiskey and his wife, Jennifer of Northfield; two daughters, Tami Higgins and her husband, Scott of Lanexa, VA and Erin Fedora and husband, Andrew of Chicopee; her three sisters, Carol Gauthier of Westfield, Laurie Lutz of Chicopee and Kim Murphy of Cheyenne WY; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Barbara’s funeral service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 3pm at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. in Agawam. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of Barbara’s life following the funeral ceremony at 4 pm.
