Barbara M. (Smith) Neveu, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 6, 1947 in New York City, NY.  Barbara was the daughter of Francis Zvach and the late Mary (Dibala) Zvach.  She was the housekeeper at the former St. George Rectory in Chicopee and also cleaned offices and the library at Mt. Holyoke College.  She was a generous, loving, and helpful person that loved her family more than anything. Barbara enjoyed playing cards. Besides her mother, Mary Zvach, she is predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Sanders, they both passed away in 2012.  She is survived by her husband of almost fifty-three years, Dennis Neveu; father, Francis Zvach of CT; two daughters, Denise Neveu and Danielle Philbrick and her husband, Dean and brother, Robert Smith all of Springfield, seven grandchildren, Kierstin, Brianna, Eric, Dennis, Jayden, Brendon and Archer.  Barbara was known as “GiGi” to her seven great grandchildren.  Barbara’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd. in Springfield at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St. in Chicopee.  Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
