Edward Jankiewicz, 99, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Springfield, on Jan 8, 1922. He was the son of the late John and Anna (Augustyn) Jankiewicz. Ed was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. He served in WW2 in the Navy as a Gunner on a Martin Mariner bomber Plane. He was honorably discharged and received the WW2 Victory Medal. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 75 years, Anne (Kennedy), brother and sisters, Michael Kapinos, Bertha Lyons and Sophie Chestner. He is survived by his devoted children, Robert Jankiewicz and his wife, Candace of Old Saybrook, CT, Dyan Kane and her husband, Gerald of Wilbraham, Catherine Manning and her husband, John of Wilbraham, Steven Jankiewicz and his wife, Laurie of Hampden and an adopted son, Peter Dowers and his wife, Denise of Springfield. He has eleven cherished grandchildren, Stacy Labadorf, Daniel Manning, Emily Manning, Thomas Jankiewicz, Christopher Jankiewicz, Audrey Jankiewicz, James Kane, Joanna Howell, Jessica Jankiewicz, Steven Jankiewicz and Nicholas Rzeszutek. Fifteen great grandchildren, a nephew, William Lyons and his wife, Beverly of Ellington CT, and many other nieces and nephews. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Co. in Springfield.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday morning, September 7, 2021 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls, from 9 to 10 am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 387 Chestnut St. in Springfield at 11 am. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 431 Tinkham Rd. in Springfield.
