George J. Christofori, 76, of Chicopee, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Ludlow with his family by his side. He was born on October 10, 1941 in Springfield and was the son of the late John and Sophie (Bogdanski) Christofori. George worked at the former Artted Wire Co. in Springfield for many years. He liked cars, old movies, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. George loved babysitting Bodie and Cole and enjoyed the holidays with his family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria M. (Smith) Christofori; an aunt, Joanne Bodganski, cousins, Chris Orsini and his wife, Emily and Rob Torrey; brothers-in-law, George Smith and his wife, Kyung, Edward Smith and his wife, Ursula and Robert Smith and his companion, Trish Savoy and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Earl Walz, John “Jackie” Walz, Theodore Chistofori and Merle Cavanaugh. Gloria would like to give a special thanks to Karen Smith, Dr. Dias, Dr. Donaldson, Dr. Markham and the staff of Health South in Ludlow for their wonderful care. George’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St.in Chicopee Falls at 10:00 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd. in Springfield at 11am. Calling hours are from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday morning.
