GERALDINE A. KAGAN

1945 – 2023

Geraldine A. Kagan, 78, of Chicopee, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on February 26, 1945 in Holyoke and was the daughter of the late Jan and Wanda (Borowiec) Kagan.  At age 18, Geraldine started working at the American Telephone and Telegraph Co and worked her way up to National Vice President at the AT&T Co.  Geri also worked as a consultant for Cisco Technologies.  While working, she attended night school and graduated from STCC with honors.  For work or vacation, she enjoyed traveling throughout the country.  Geri loved Cape Cod and the New Bedford/Dartmouth area.  She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Gadoury; niece and caretaker, Wendy Zeitler and her partner Patrick Clay, who will miss her dearly, and another niece and caretaker, Joanne Martins; nieces, Lisa Gadoury, Nancy Hunter and Jennifer Pozzutto; nephews, Keith Porcello and Karl Porcello; her great nephew and sidekick, Derek Clay, great nephew, Jared Gadoury, and all her extended family.  Geri is predeceased by three sisters, Joan Zaitchik, Dolores Porcello and Frances “Nancy” Tranghese.  Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee from 9:30 to 10:30 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St. in Chicopee at 11 am.  Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center, 627 Cottage St. Springfield, MA  01104 or Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St. Springfield, MA 01105.
