MSGt Jose A. Carrion, 81, formerly of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30th, 2023 with his beloved daughters at his side.  Born in Guatemala, Jose came to the US in his teens, joined the Air Force and spent the next 26+ years proudly serving our Country.  Always a car enthusiast, after retiring from the Air Force he pursued a career in car sales and managed several local dealerships.   Jose’s love for animals brought him much love and comfort and he could never pass up bringing home a stray cat or rescue dog even though he was horribly allergic.  Jose lived with dementia for the past 10 years of his life but continued to be an exceptional man, incredible father and amazing grandfather who never hesitated to express his love for his family. He was blessed to have an incredible care team in addition to his family in his long fought battle including his ex-wife Lori Carrion, caretaker Mary Rodowicz and the staff at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke.  Jose is survived by his daughters Lisa Munoz & Leighann Novotney and their families, stepson Steven Carrion, his adored grandchildren Hanna & Avery Munoz, and extended family around the world.  Jose will be fondly remembered by all who knew him and whose lives he touched and his passing will leave a tremendous void in the hearts of his family.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 8th at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St. in Chicopee, at 12 noon, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. in Agawam at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, Inc., P.O. Box 1338, Holyoke, MA 01041 https://friendsofthesoldiershome.org/  Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
