Josephine (Slachetka) Mercik, 100, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Heritage Hall North. She was born on July 5, 1922 in Poland and was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Ziemba) Szlachetka.Augstyn. She is survived by her son, James Mercik and his wife, Patricia of Westfield and several nieces and nephews. Josephine is predeceased by her siblings. Josephine’s funeral will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 9 am at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home 61 Grape St. in Chicopee. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St. in Chicopee at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
