M. Adeline (Nye) Lapa, 75, of South Hadley, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Day Brook Village in Holyoke.  She was born on June 26, 1948 in Springfield. Adeline was the daughter of the late George and Ida May (Coons) Nye. After high school graduation she worked for United Airlines in New York.  Adeline was also employed by AIC and Adams & Ruxton Construction and Edmund G. Woods, Jr. Real Estate. Adeline enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, and baking. She loved her family and friends and had a special love for her grandchildren.  Adeline always had a smile and would always welcome you into her home.  She was a friend to everyone. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, David D. Lapa; two daughters, Jennifer Lapa-Jost and her husband, Robert of Malden and Michelle Nolen and her husband, Michael of Southampton; two grandchildren, Liam Nolen and James Nolen; two brothers, George Nye of Richardson, TX and Joseph Nye of Albany, NY; two nephews, Richard Nye and his wife, Annalise of Washington and Scott Nye and his wife, Laura of California and a niece, Carolyn Wells and her husband, George of Minnesota.  Adeline is predeceased by her three brothers, Thomas, William and Richard.  Adeline’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 61 Grape St. in Chicopee Center at 9 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St. at 10 am.  Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee.  Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks road, Waltham, MA 02452.
