1942 – 2024

CHICOPEE    Mark H. Cross, 81, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1942 in Norwalk, CT and was the son of the late Richard and Celeste (Keena) Cross. He honorably served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, radioman third class.  Mark was later employed as a supervisor at Deluxe Check Printers for 25 years and a machinist at Titeflex for 13 years.

Mark enjoyed watching anything sports-related, especially the New York Yankees, Kansas City Chiefs and the Boston Celtics. He liked playing cards, enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends and loved a heated discussion whether it be sports or politics. He always made everyone laugh with his sense of humor. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Mark is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Linda L. (Lametto) Cross; three sons, Matthew Cross and his wife, Diane of Chicopee, Mark Cross and his wife, Janel of Cuba, NY and Michael and his wife, Emmalee. Six siblings, Richard, and his wife, Phyllis of AZ, Celeste Golino and her husband, Phil of CT, Maureen Tovish of CT, Robert and his wife, Teri of CA, John and his wife, Jeannie of CT and Maribeth Cross and her husband, Stephen of CT; 10 grandchildren, Jake, Owen, Meredith, Angelina, Carter, Lauren, Finn, Cole, Ruby and Brody. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Nancy O’Mara and her husband Patrick of WA, Maryann Parent and her husband William of MA, and Patricia Lametto of FL, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mark is predeceased by four siblings, Gregory and William Cross, Sheila Upchurch, Kathleen Boyle, and his brothers-in-law Richard Lametto, William Boyle, and Richard Tovish.

Calling hours are on Sunday, February 25th from 4 to 8 pm at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee. Mark’s funeral will be held on Monday, February 26th, at 10 am at the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St. in Chicopee at 11 am. Burial with military honors will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. in Agawam at 1 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Baystate Medical Center, Critical Care Unit, 759 Chestnut St. Springfield, MA  01199, or to T.
