Richard E. Nowak, 81, of Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on December 23, 1941 in Holyoke and was the son of the late Edward E. and Julia T. (Chwalek) Nowak.  Richard was a graduate of Chicopee High School. He was a production supervisor at the former A. G. Spaulding Corp. Richard aka ” Rich” enjoyed running local  Marathons and ran the Boston Marathon in 1983.  He enjoyed camping, boating and water skiing at Mitch’s Marina in the day. Rich was happiest when he was at the family beach house at Misquamicut Beach.  He enjoyed golfing and reading. In his younger years he played the trumpet with the Chicopee Drum and Bugle Corps. Richard was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and was a 4^th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, Council #69. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Regina (Robak) Nowak, his three children, Diane Nolan and husband, Carl of Belchertown, Kenneth Nowak and wife, Stephanie, of Strafford, NH and Richard Nowak and wife, Lori of Granby, his brother, Robert Nowak of Conway, MA, five grandchildren, Ryan Nolan, Amanda Lessard, Derek Nolan, Maxwell Nowak and Connor Nowak and two great granddaughters, Kylie and Leah. Calling hours are on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1 to 3 pm at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls, with a service at 3 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House, 34 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 or The American Heart Association.
