Stephen (Steve) Anthony Topor, 70, passed away on October 21, 2023 in the comfort of his home, beside his beloved wife. Steve, born to the late Jean and Martin Topor,  grew up in Chicopee MA.  He graduated from Chicopee High and then moved to Connecticut to attend Fairfield University.   After graduation, Steve went to work at American Can Company where he met his future wife, Beth.   Steve earned his MBA at New York University while working in marketing for the Dixie/Northern business, and then moved to James River Corporation when the division was acquired by them.  After 20 years with Dixie/Northern, Steve moved to Arizona as a General Manager at Dial Corporation and then on to California where he joined Unisource Worldwide as Division Manager, promoted to VP of Sales, and then Senior Vice President Product Management.  When Unisource merged with Xpedx to form Veritiv Corporation, Steve became VP Category Management.  Steve’s career spanned 45 years in the paper industry and upon retirement he continued working part time in consulting and sales roles within the industry.   Steve’s move to California found him settling with his family in Danville.  Steve most loved spending time with his family, traveling the world with his wife, sons and friends, golfing, skiing, being the family chef, working on house projects, talking about cars with his boys, and watching USC football (both sons’ alma mater). Steve is survived by his wife Beth of 39 years, sons Jeff and Alex, daughter-in-law Megan, dog Tini, as well as his brother Martin (Cheryl) and sister Mary Jean (Paul), his Aunt Veronica Szczur, and his nieces, nephews, and their children. A graveside service will be held at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee, MA on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00am.
