William James Corcoran passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 8 with his children by his side. He was born in Springfield, MA on May 21, 1947 to the late William F. and Lydia T. (Bono) Corcoran. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School and went on to take several courses at STCC over the years.  He was employed by several companies over his life span starting with Pratt & Whitney, Chapman Valve/Crane Co., Smith & Wesson, Industrial Steel & Boiler, and completed his career at International Valve/ A Collins Company.  Bill was an avid sports fan and loved watching and going to the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. He also coached his kids in many sports while they were growing up. Bill also loved to sing and enjoyed going to karaoke and travelling. He was a gentle, kind, caring man and did whatever he could for his family.  Bill leaves his children: Greg Corcoran of Westfield, Karin Philligin (John) of Wilmington, NC. Grandchildren Brennan Corcoran, Adley, Riley and Patrick Philligin. His brothers John (Paula) Corcoran and Michael Corcoran of Palmer. He leaves several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife Christine Corcoran.  Calling hours for William will be on Friday, December 15 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee Falls from 10:30 to 12 noon.  At 12 noon a funeral home service will be held.  His burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd. in Springfield.
